Ittihad wants former Barcelona coach to replace Nuno Santo

The newspaper "Okaz" state that the future of Nuno Santo in the leadership of Ittihad is subject to great division within the club's board of directors, in light of the view of some need to give him more time and not dismissed now.

Al-Ittihad suffered an unexpected 2-0 defeat from Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya in the AFC Champions League in which the Jeddah Tigers continued their negative results in the last two months of only two wins in their last 10 matches, while dropping to sixth place in the Saudi league.

According to the report, some within the management of Ittihad are seeking to excuse Nuno Santo for the decline in performance due to the large number of injuries, but the majority tend that it is time to change and sack him and appoint a new coach.

At the same time, Al-Ekhbariya reports that Ittihad management has opened a line of communication with more than one other coach in preparation for the dismissal of Santo.

In this case, the name of the current Al Ain coach, Alfred Schroeder, is the favorite to succeed Santo in the "Al Ameed" coaching.

Schroeder worked as an assistant coach for Ronald Koeman in Barcelona coaching, and then he had a bad experience with Ajax, before moving to Al Ain at the beginning of this season and things are going very positively with him.

Al Ain are third in the UAE league after seven rounds, two points behind leaders Al Wasl and Shabab Al Ahli Dubai, and top their group in the AFC Champions League.

The final decision and the new manager's name should be made soon as the management seeks to impose stability quickly ahead of the Club World Cup, which begins against Al Ittihad and Auckland City on December 12 .
