Messi: My battle with Ronaldo will remain immortal forever

Lionel Messi considered that the sports battle that brought him together with Cristiano Ronaldo over the past years was very beneficial to both parties, stressing that it will remain immortal in the minds forever.

Since 2008, the era of Messi and Ronaldo began in football, and the Argentine excelled in achieving the Golden Ball 8 times compared to 5 for the Portuguese, while the "Don" achieved the Champions League more than the "flea".

After winning the eighth Ballon d'Or, Messi spoke in an interview with the French newspaper L'Equipe about the rivalry with Ronaldo, saying, "It was a very good sporting battle between me and Ronaldo, this rivalry was fueling us because our spirit of competition is very high."

"We've managed to stay on top for a long time, so I think we really deserve praise, it's hard to stay on top for 10 or 15 years."

"My desire has always been to win everything all the time, there is no doubt that it is a great period for me, for him and for all football fans."

"It was a wonderful period and I think you will remain immortal as a memory in the minds of all those who followed us."

Perhaps the rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo has begun to shrink with the Portuguese departure from Real Madrid in 2018, and in practice it no longer exists after Ronaldo's move to Saudi Al Nasr and Messi's shift to Inter Miami in 2023.
