Lionel Messi gave an interview with American television on the first anniversary of the Argentina national team winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
“Tango” succeeded in winning the World Cup after defeating France on penalties after an exciting final that ended in a 3-3 draw in regular and extra time.
Argentina's national team had a bad start to the World Cup with a 2-1 defeat against Saudi Arabia, before Messi's teammates succeeded in winning all the following matches and achieving the title.
When asked about his memories, Messi replied, “We lost to Saudi Arabia in the first week, which was very bad, but after that it was an amazing month that we enjoyed very much.”
He also added, "It is a month that will remain immortal in history for me and the majority of the people of Argentina. This memory will always accompany us."
He concluded, "Now I am reliving this memory again here in Rosario with family and friends, and I am once again enjoying everything we experienced at that time."
It is noteworthy that the soccer season in America ended last October, so Messi is on vacation with his family in Argentina and commemorates the first anniversary of the World Cup in the heart of his country.
