Milan tried to sign Messi, but discovered it was “impossible”!

Paolo Maldini, the former technical director of Milan, revealed that he tried to sign Lionel Messi last summer, but it was impossible.

With the expiration of Messi's contract with Paris Saint-Germain, he received many offers, most notably from Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia, but in the end he chose to join Inter Miami of the United States.

According to Maldini, Milan contacted Messi and tried to make a historic deal by including him in San Siro, but things never went as hoped.

Maldini said in a media interview, “For 10 days we tried to bring Messi to Milan, but then we realized that it was impossible.”

He also added, "A player like Messi is interesting for anyone in the world to see. When I read that he might go to Inter, I panicked."

The financial factor may be the biggest part that made Milan's task of signing the 36-year-old difficult, especially since Messi's salary with Paris exceeded 40 million euros.

At the same time, Messi may have rejected the idea of continuing on the European continent with a club other than Barcelona, and the matter was not only financial, as he rejected Al Hilal’s offer, despite what is said to have reached one billion euros annually, and preferred Inter Miami’s much lower offer.
