Napoli backs down from hiring Tudor and chooses the “Zamalek candidate”

Updated: Nov 15, 2023

Theodor is the nominated coach to coach Napoli

The Napoli administration backed away from hiring coach Igor Tudor to coach the team to succeed Rudi Garcia, due to a disagreement over the contract duration.

Fabrizio Romano had confirmed that Tudor would be Napoli's new coach, but he came back and revealed that the coach had requested a two-year contract, while the Italian club only wanted a contract until the end of the current season.

After this difference, the Napoli administration turned to another option, namely Walter Mazzarri, who had previously supervised the training of the Italian Southern Club from 2009 to 2013.

According to Romano, the agreement between the two parties has been successfully completed, and it is only a matter of hours before the return of the 62 years to Diego Armando Maradona Stadium will be officially announced.

The interesting thing is that Mazzarri was on the list of coaches nominated to coach Zamalek of Egypt in the recent period after the dismissal of coach Juan Carlos Osorio.

Egyptian newspapers reported that the Italian coach welcomed the reduction in his salary in order to train the White Knight, but within less than a week, he ended up as coach of Napoli, a participant in the Champions League and champion of the Italian League last season.

Mazzarri, after his distinguished journey with Napoli in the past, during which he won the Italian Cup, coached Inter, Watford, Torino, and Cagliari, but without achieving significant successes.
