Sacking Santo costs Ittihad a huge number, Flick at the top of the candidates to succeed him

According to Saudi press reports, the dismissal of Nuno Santo from Ittihad cost the Saudi club a huge number as compensation for the disengagement with the Portuguese coach.

Santo's contract with Al-Ittihad was extended for another year, but poor results precipitated his departure from the Jeddah Tigers, after dropping to sixth place in the Saudi league and losing in the AFC Champions League to Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya 2-0.

According to reports, Ittihad’s management will have to pay $8 million immediately to Santo after his dismissal as the rest of his dues and his coaching staff.

At the same time, there are 4 names of candidates on the table of the management of the "Al Amid" to succeed the Portuguese, led by former Germany coach Hansie Flick.

Flick was sacked as Germany coach in September after a series of disappointing results with the Bundesliga, having led Bayern Munich to the historic Sextuplein 2020 and is classified as an elite coach in football.

The second name on the list of candidates is Julen Lopetegui, former Real Madrid and Wolves coach, along with another name, Lyon coach Laurent Blanc, who was sacked at the beginning of this season.

The name of Rui Vitoria, the current coach of the Egyptian national team, was also put on the table of Ittihad’s management, but it seems difficult to contract him because of his association with a long-term contract with the Pharaohs.

It is noteworthy that the name of Austrian coach Oliver Glasner was also among those on the table to coach Ittihad, a coach who won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt two years ago.
