Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni added more uncertainty about his future as a coach when he confirmed that he had not made his final decision about whether to leave or stay yet.
The Argentine coach had indicated after the victory over Brazil in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers last November that he was considering leaving, while newspapers revealed that the reason for this was a sharp dispute between him and the president of the Argentine Federation.
The coach returned once again to raise controversy and ambiguity about his future when he attended the 2024 Copa America draw, where he said, “I am still thinking about my decision. I think calmly and study everything that is happening around me and I will decide whether to continue or vice versa.”
He also added, "The players need a coach full of desire and energy in line with what the players already have."
He concluded, "I spoke with Messi and Tapia (president of the Argentine Federation), I just need to think about it carefully again."
The Copa America draw placed Argentina in a group with Peru, Chile, Canada or Trinidad and Tobago, with the competition, for which Argentina is holder, starting on June 24, 2024.
It is assumed that Scaloni's contract with Argentina extends until the 2026 World Cup, while some European clubs are very interested in including him, most notably Real Madrid.
