John Obi Mikel, the former Chelsea player, revealed that Eden Hazard rejected a crazy offer from the Saudi League last summer that would have given him a million euros a week in salary.

Hazard terminated his contract with Real Madrid by mutual consent at the end of last season, then announced his retirement from football when he was only 32 years old.

According to Mikel, a number of huge offers came to the table for the Belgian star, but in the end he decided that it was the perfect time to end his career in the world of football.

The Nigerian said in statements reported by The Sun, “Hazard had offers from the Saudi League, but he rejected them.”

He also added, "He said: I have a lot of money now. I don't need the money. They will give me a million euros a week? It doesn't matter."

He concluded, "I do not need this much money. I have enough money to live with my family."

The Saudi League was the destination of many big players last summer, such as Karim Benzema and Neymar, and before them, Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in January, and the trio receives an annual salary of more than 200 million euros each.

Jose Mourinho, Hazard's former coach at Chelsea, had stressed more than once that Hazard is "a man who loves his family very much and there is rarely one like him these days," which explains his preference to be near them instead of the huge amounts of money that came to him from Saudi Arabia.

It is noteworthy that Hazard's experience with Real Madrid was very bad. Over the course of 4 years, he suffered more than 15 injuries and failed to leave a real mark with the royal club.
