Sundowns stun Ahly and chooses the time of the summit of the African League

Mamelodi surprised South Africa's Sundowns, the Egyptian club Al-Ahly, when he chose the third in the evening again to be the date for the match of the two teams in the first leg of the semi-finals of the African League.

Although the Sundowns Stadium has lighting, the South African club prefers to face Egyptian clubs under the sun, considering that either Al-Ahly or Zamalek rarely play during the day in most of the matches of their season.

Perhaps history was an important factor in choosing Sundowns for this date, as the first confrontation at this time was against Zamalek in the 2016 CAF Champions League final, when Pitso Mosimane's battalion won 3-0, and two years later thrashed Al Ahly 5-0 in the quarter-finals.

Al Ahly did not succeed in beating Sundowns in South Africa at such a time, and their best achievement was a 1-1 draw in the second leg of the 2020 edition.

The last meeting between the two teams at the same time witnessed another tragedy for Al Ahly, specifically last year in the group stage, which Sundowns won 5-0.

Al Ahly fans demanded the intervention of the club's management and talk to CAF in order to change the date in line with the standards, instead of giving Sundowns an additional advantage in such a difficult and decisive match.
