Al-Ittihad suffered a heavy defeat from its host, Al-Raed, with a score of 3-1, for the 18th round of the Saudi Roshan League.
The defeat comes a few days after another disappointing defeat against Al-Ahly of Egypt in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup with the same result.
Al-Raed took the lead in the 22nd minute through Karim Al-Barkawi, and Romarinho succeeded in adjusting the score in the 25th minute, then Al-Barkawi scored the second goal again in the 72nd minute, and Mohammed Al-Dosari completed the hat-trick in the 89th minute.
Madallah Al-Olayan received a red card in the 12th minute by video technology decision, which was one of the most important reasons for the deterioration of the Al-Ittihad level as a result of the numerical shortage.
In the second half, Ahmed Bamasoud was injured, which increased the defensive problems of coach Marcelo Gallardo's squad, especially when looking at the next match against Al-Nassr.
With this defeat, Al-Ittihad’s score froze at 28 points in sixth place, while Al-Raed reached 16 points in fifteenth place.
Al-Ittihad will suffer from the absence of Ahmed Bamasoud, Luis Felipe, Ahmed Sharahili, Omar Hawsawi, Suwailem Al-Menhali, Muhannad Al-Shanqeeti and Zakaria Hawsawi due to injury, with Ahmed Hegazy not scoring and Maddallah Al-Olayan suspended, in the next Al-Nassr match.
On this basis, there is a real dilemma for coach Gallardo to find solutions in the positions of center back and right back, especially since Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr are in their best condition recently.
