The injury of the Egyptian international represents a major blow to Al-Ahly, as he is one of the best defenders of the Red Giants in recent years, and one of the players who participated most in matches this season.
The biggest risk remains not that he will miss the Young Africans match, but rather that the injury may cause him to miss participating in the Club World Cup, which is scheduled to start only 12 days from now.
The Red Giant will face the winner from Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia and Auckland City of New Zealand in the second round of the Club World Cup scheduled to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
What increased the concern of many people about Abdel Moneim's injury was that, according to the press, he left training crying from intense pain, so the injury may be severe and cause him to be absent for a long period, and may even threaten his participation with the Egyptian national team in the African Cup of Nations next January.
Abdel Moneim, 24 years old, participated this season with Al-Ahly in 12 matches in all tournaments. He is also considered the first center back in the Egyptian national team in light of the injuries of the duo Ahmed Hegazy and Mahmoud Hamdy “Al-Wansh.”
