After an exceptional performance against Chelsea, Manchester United fell at Old Trafford with a 3-0 loss to its guest Bournemouth in the 16th round of the English Premier League.

The Red Devils' morale was high after defeating Chelsea by two goals to one last Wednesday, but Dominic Solanke surprised Erik ten Hag's squad with the first goal in the fifth minute.

In light of United's strenuous attempts to return the result, Philip Billing succeeded in scoring the second goal in the 70th minute, before Marco Sensi ended the hosts' hopes of returning with the third goal in the 73rd minute.

This is Manchester United's seventh defeat this season in the Premier League, which is a very huge number considering that only 16 rounds have passed since the start of the competition, and it demonstrates the great state of fluctuation that the Red Devils are experiencing.

The unfortunate news for United is also that Bruno Fernandes has been shown a yellow card, meaning United will enter the Liverpool derby on December 17 at Anfield without their suspended captain.

With this defeat, Manchester United's score froze at point 27 in sixth place, while Bournemouth, which was struggling early in the relegation positions, reached point 19 in 13th place.

It remains to be noted that in the meantime, other matches were held in the 16th round of the English Premier League, and their results were as follows:

  • Brighton 1 x 1 Burnley

  • Sheffield United 1 x 0 Brentford

  • Wolverhampton 1 x 1 Nottingham Forest
