A major setback for Guardiola.. a negative number for the first time in 8 years!

Updated: Dec 18, 2023

Pep Guardiola stumbles again

Manchester City continued its stumble this season, when it tied with Crystal Palace 2-2 at Etihad Stadium in the 17th round of the English Premier League.

Although Pep Guardiola's squad succeeded in taking a 2-0 lead with goals from Jack Grealish and Rico Luis, Palace surprised everyone with an unexpected "remontada" in the last 15 minutes.

Jean-Philippe Mateta started the remontada with a goal in the 76th minute, and at the last minute Michael Ollis scored the equalizer for the visitors.

This is the third match in a row in which City failed to win a match at Etihad Stadium in the English Premier League, a precedent that has not happened since 2016.

It started with a 1-1 draw with Liverpool, then a dramatic 3-3 draw with Tottenham, and finally a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

The first time under Guardiola's leadership, City failed to win three consecutive matches, was in his first season, specifically December 2016.

It is noteworthy that this draw brought City to 34 points in fourth place, and if leaders Liverpool win over Manchester United tomorrow, the difference between them will become 6 points.
