After years of waiting... Klopp achieves Salah's dream!

Updated: Dec 2, 2023

Salah is Liverpool's captain after a long wait

The match between Liverpool and Lask in the European League witnessed a historic event for Mohamed Salah, after he wore the Reds captaincy for the first time in his career at Anfield, and with it, Jurgen Klopp made up with him for what angered the Egyptian star the most in recent years.

Salah had expressed his dissatisfaction within Liverpool on more than one occasion over Klopp’s preference to give the badge to Trent Alexander-Arnold over him, despite the difference in age and influence.

According to the Mirror newspaper, Klopp finally succeeded in reconciling with Salah and resolving the crisis, by giving him the captaincy in the LASK match and achieving his dream, which he had waited for for many years.

This is not the first time that Salah has worn the Liverpool captaincy, as he was given this honor once previously, but the match was outside Anfield.

This gesture from Klopp to have Salah be the leader against LASK and at Anfield represented great value for the 31-year-old, so it seems that most of his crises or differences with the German coach in Liverpool have disappeared.

Salah succeeded in scoring a goal from a penalty kick during Liverpool's 3-0 victory over the Austrian club, ensuring qualification to the round of 16 of the European League.

Salah joined Liverpool in the summer of 2017 from Roma for 40 million euros, and after 7 years he was able to become one of the most important Anfield legends after scoring 199 goals in 322 matches in all tournaments so far.
