The Daily Star reported that Manchester City player Erling Haaland may be subjected to a severe punishment from the English Premier League because of what he did after his team's match against Tottenham.
Haaland wrote on Twitter, “WTF” commenting on referee Simon Hooper ending the match between City and Tottenham while the ball was alone for Jack Grealish in the Spurs goal, in a decision that caused a great uproar and sharp criticism.
According to the newspaper, the association is studying what Haaland did and is in the process of issuing a penalty against the Norwegian international.
Previously, when Virgil van Dijk mocked the referee’s decision in the Liverpool-Newcastle match to send him off, he was suspended for a match more, in addition to a huge fine amounting to 100,000 pounds sterling.
If the League decides to follow suit, Haaland may be suspended for a match or two, along with a large fine for the Premier League’s top scorer.
It is noteworthy that City coach Pep Guardiola refused to comment on the refereeing decisions, while Ange Postecoglou considered his team lucky to end the match at that moment, otherwise it would have undoubtedly lost.
