Belmadi dismisses Benrahma and Brahimi and brings back Bounedjah to Algeria in 2026 WC qualifiers

Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi has announced his squad for the November international break, which will play two matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Sahara Warriors will face Somalia on November 16th in Algiers, before travelling to Djibouti on November 19th.

West Ham's Said Benrahma has been ruled out by West Ham's Said Benrahma, in a move that makes sense after their famous dispute during the player's substitution in the Algeria-Egypt friendly in the UAE last October.

Despite Yassine Brahimi's outstanding performances with Qatar's Al-Gharafa, Belmadi also decided to rule him out, but at the same time Baghdad Bounedjah returned again after a period of absence, as did Nabil Bentaleb.

The list also witnessed the presence of Youssef Attal, the French player of Nice, despite not participating in any match in the last period after his suspension due to his post to support of the Palestinian cause, which he published condemning the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

The list of the Algerian national team in the November stop came as follows:

  • Goalkeepers: Anthony Mandera (Cannes), Mustapha Zaghba (Saudi Arabia), Oussama Benbot (MCA).

  • Defenders: Youssef Attal (Nice), Kevin Guiton (Metz), Rayan Ait Nouri (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Yassine Laarouchi (Sheffield United), Issa Mandi (Villarreal), Mohamed Amine Togai (Esperance Tunis), Rami Bensbaini (Borussia Dortmund), Ahmed Touba (Lecce).

  • Midfielders: Nabil Bentaleb (Lille), Sofiane Fijoli (Fatih Karagmerok), Hossam Aouar (Roma), Fares Chaibi (Frankfurt), Ramez Zerrougui (Feyenuerd), Hicham Boudaoui (Nice)

  • Forwards: Riyad Mahrez (Ahli Jeddah) - Adam Onas (Lille) - Mohamed Gomorrah (Union Berlin) - Baghdad Bounedjah (Al Sadd ) - Islam Slimani (Curitiba).
