Carabao Cup quarter-final draw results in fiery clashes

The draw for the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup resulted in a fiery clash, most notably with regard to Liverpool and Newcastle, the favourites to win the shield of England's third most important tournament.

Liverpool succeeded in crossing the gate of Bournemouth with a 2-1 victory, while Newcastle crushed its host and defending champion Manchester United with a clean treble at the Theatre of Dreams.

West Ham also qualified for the quarter-finals after eliminating Arsenal by beating them 3-1, along with Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Middlesbrough and Port Valle.

The draw was held just after the end of Wednesday's matches and resulted in a fiery clash between Liverpool and West Ham, while Newcastle continue their difficult path and set up a date with Chelsea.

The result of the draw for the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup was as follows:

  • Liverpool × West Ham

  • Chelsea × Newcastle

  • Everton × Fulham

  • Port Valley × Middlesbrough

It remains to be noted that after the end of the quarter-finals there will be a special draw for the semi-final matches, which are the only matches that will be played in a home-and-away system as is the usual historically, with the away goal rule abolished.
