Despite the disastrous beginning.. Ten Hag enters United history positively

Erik ten Hag entered Manchester United's history from the widest doors after the Reds beat Fulham with a Bruno Fernandes goal last Saturday in the Premier League.

It was the Dutchman's 79th game at the helm of United, and he recorded his 50th win in all competitions, making him the fastest to reach this number of wins and equalling Ernest Mangnal's record set 118 years ago.

Mangal was the first to lead United to a major trophy, the Premier League in 1908, and he also needed 79 games to achieve his fiftieth win in 1905 at Blackpool 1-0.

The only difference between Mangal and Ten Hag is that the first was participating in only two competitions, the league and the Cup, while the Dutchman achieved his record across 5 different tournaments in less than two seasons.

30 Premier League wins, 7 in the Carabao Cup and 4 more in the League Cup, with 9 European wins between the Europa League and the Champions League, are ten Hag's records at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman thus surpassed Jose Mourinho, who recorded his fiftieth win with United after 81 games, while Sir Alex Ferguson needed 105 games to celebrate his fiftieth victory with the Red Devils.

Ten Hag took over as Manchester United manager in the summer of 2022, and in his first season he managed to finish third in the Premier League with the Carabao Cup win and reach the FA Cup final.

But the former Ajax manager's second season with United has been abysmal so far, picking up 18 points from the first 11 Premier League games, losing two Champions League games, already left Carabao Cup after losing to Newcastle, and news abounds that his future is at stake at Old Trafford.
