The match between Al-Ahly and Smouha, which ended in a goalless draw

A goalless draw prevailed over the course of the match between Al-Ahly and Smouha at the Arab Contractors Stadium, in the seventh round of the 2024 Egyptian League.

Al-Ahly had tied 1-1 with El-Gouna before the international break, marking the first stumble for Marcel Kohler’s squad this season at the local level.

The Red Giants missed the services of Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Kahraba and Anthony Modeste, and Percy Tau and Reda Selim continued to be absent due to injury, and all of these absences cast a shadow over Al-Ahly’s level against the Alexandria club.

Smouha succeeded in using its defensive strategy to limit or almost eliminate any threat to striker Salah Mohsen, who failed to score his first local goal this season after opening his African record against Medeama.

With this draw, Al-Ahly reached the 14th point in the Egyptian League after 6 matches played so far, thus losing first place and falling to second place.

Pyramids once again returned to the top of the Egyptian League standings after succeeding in defeating Al-Ismaily 2-1 earlier on Tuesday evening and reaching the 16th point.

It remains to be noted that Al-Ahly can lead the league if it wins its postponed match against Mahalla Municipality, the date of which has not been set yet.

It is noteworthy that Zamalek has the opportunity to reduce the difference with Al-Ahly to only 3 points if it succeeds in winning tomorrow over Modern Future, with a match less for the Red Giant than the White Knight has played so far.
