Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola revealed that he has a feeling that his team will win the English Premier League title this season.
The Citizens won the Premier League title in the last two editions, and five times with the Spanish coach, and the philosopher’s appetite seems open for a new title despite the difficulty of the competition this season.
Guardiola was asked about the title in his speech before the Aston Villa match on Wednesday, and he replied, “If you asked me today, I would tell you that I feel that we will win the English Premier League this season.”
He also added, "If we play at the same levels we showed against Liverpool and Tottenham, we can win the title again. I know that it is not easy."
Since the start of the English Premier League era in 1992, no team has succeeded in achieving the title three times in a row except Manchester United and Sir Alex Vergon in the period from 2006 to 2009.
Liverpool stood in the way of City repeating this achievement, when Jurgen Klopp’s squad won the Premier League title in 2020 after two seasons of dominance by Pep Guardiola’s squad, before the Blue Club returned and won the title in the last two editions again.
It is noteworthy that Manchester City occupies third place this season in the Premier League standings with 30 points, only 3 points behind leaders Arsenal, and one point behind runner-up Liverpool.
