Long suspension for Sandro Tonali over betting case

A few hours and the final decision on the case of Newcastle's Sandro Tonali will be issued, after being accused of a betting case during his time with Milan.

According to the newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport", Tonali's penalty will be greater than that of Juventus player Nicolo Fagioli, as he will be suspended for 10 full months for any activity related to football.

Tonali was accused of playing betting in the same period of his activity with Milan, which is an explicit violation of the laws, and he has implicitly admitted this, but at the same time he denied being addicted to gambling, and fortunately for him that he did not bet on Milan matches, otherwise the penalty would have been much greater and may reach the point of his permanent suspension from playing football.

Tonali joined Newcastle in the summer of 2023 for €60 million, and quickly succeeded in establishing himself as one of the most important players in the Eddie Howe battalion, and despite recent accusations, he is still involved with the team, even playing the last 20 minutes of the West Ham match last Sunday.

A 10-month ban would mean the end of Tonali's first season with Newcastle, during which he made 11 appearances between the Premier League, the Champions League and the Carabao Cup, scoring just one goal.
