Manchester City avenge derby last season and thrash United 3-0 at Old Trafford

Manchester City beat neighbours Manchester United at home, Old Trafford, by three goals for nothing, in the match held for the tenth round of the Premier League.

The match was a revenge for Pep Guardiola's side after last season's two-goal defeat at the Theatre of Dreams, in a match that saw a lot of refereeing controversy at the time.

Erling Haaland's brilliance was the headline of the derby, as the Norwegian converted a penalty in the twenty-sixth minute into the net and opened the scoring, before returning and scoring the second goal for him and his team three minutes after the start of the second half.

There were attempts by Manchester United to come back and reduce the deficit but without effectiveness in front of goal, and Phil Foden ended Ten Hag's hopes of returning with a third goal in the 80th minute.

City's win ended United's longest winning streak of the season (4) in all competitions, and added to the suffering of Ten Hag's battalion, which has yet to deliver at the level hoped for domestically or in Europe.

Manchester City's balance rose to 24 points in second place, just two points behind leaders Tottenham, while Manchester United froze for 15 points in eighth place, and received a fifth defeat in ten games this season in the Premier League.
