Tottenham manager Angie Postecoglou believes that what Heung-Min Son is currently experiencing with Spurs from a left winger to an outright striker is very similar to what happened in Cristiano Ronaldo's career.
The South Korea international is enjoying a historic season with Tottenham, so far he has scored 8 goals in 11 games for the London club that makes him the top scorer in the Premier League and surpasses the duo of Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland.
Son used to play as a left winger, but with Harry Kane leaving for Bayern Munich, Postecoglu felt it was time to repeat Ronaldo's scenario with the former Bayer Leverkusen player.
Speaking after the win over Crystal Palace, the Australian coach said: "I don't want to make comparisons, but Son's transformation into an outright striker is similar to what happened with Cristiano Ronaldo.
"I always felt that Son is a great goalscorer and has enough intelligence to play in depth, and he also has very special movements."
"It seems that the idea of turning him into an outright striker has already worked."
Tottenham lead the Premier League standings by 5 points from defending champions Manchester City, who on Sunday play the city derby against Manchester United in the hope of reducing the gap with Spurs.
