Salah Mohsen's celebration raises controversy in Al-Ahly's victory over Medeama

Al-Ahly achieved a 3-0 victory over Ghana's Medeama, in the match that was held at Al Salam Stadium for the first round of the group stage of the African Champions League.

After a large series of missed opportunities, Mahmoud Abdel Moneim “Kahraba” opened the scoring for Al-Ahly in the 65th minute, then Hussein El-Shahat scored the second goal in the 77th minute.

In the 80th minute, Marcel Kohler brought on Salah Mohsen instead of Hussein Al-Shahat, and the former Enppi striker succeeded in scoring the third and final goal for Al-Ahly in the 88th minute.

But Salah Mohsen celebrated in a way that sparked controversy, after he indicated a sign of silence to the fans.

Strangely, this is Salah’s first goal in a year and a half with Al-Ahly, as his last goal was in June 2022 against Al-Ahly.

However, it seems that the Egyptian international is angry at the fans’ criticism of him, especially since this season he is not performing as expected despite all the opportunities that Kohler gave him in various matches.

Among those criticizing Salah Mohsen for his celebration was Wael Gomaa, the Al-Ahly legend, who said during his presence in the analytical studio of BeIN Sports, “I do not understand what Salah Mohsen did. You scored a goal, but you are looking for the support of the audience as well, because you are not playing fundamentally. Why? Sign of silence?

It is noteworthy that Salah Mohsen joined Al-Ahly in the winter of 2018, coming from Enppi, in a resounding deal that cost the Red Club’s coffers 38 million pounds.

Since then, the player failed to submit his credentials, so he was loaned twice to Smouha and Ceramica Cleopatra, and with Al-Ahly he played 98 matches, during which he scored only 17 goals.
