Manchester United players celebrate

Manchester United coach Eric Ten Hag announced that Victor Lindelof has suffered a new setback that will keep him out of the field for a longer period.

The Swede has been absent from the Red Devils since his injury in the Chelsea match in early December, and he was expected to return before the end of this year.

But according to the Dutch coach, Lindelof underwent surgery after suffering a setback, as a result of which he will not return until next January.

Lindelof's long absence will leave a clear crisis for United, as there are only two Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans in the centre-back position, with Harry Maguire also injured.

At the same time, Ten Hag revealed that Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Mason Mount will once again participate in training starting in mid-January.

United will face West Ham at the latter's stadium on Saturday, and hopes to return to the path of victories after 3 matches without achieving a win.

It is noteworthy that United occupies seventh place in the English Premier League standings with 28 points, and has exited the Champions League by being at the bottom of its group.
