Vitoria challenges Zamalek in Egypt's squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers

Rui Vitoria, Egypt national team coach, announced the list of his team that will participate in the international break in November, during which it will play two matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Pharaohs are scheduled to meet the Djibouti national team first on November 16 in Cairo, then with Sierra Leone away from home on the 19th of the same month.

Zamalek contacted the Football Association to deprive Ahmed Fattouh and Mohamed Sobhi from being in the squad after the the decision to suspend them and Mustafa El-Zenari after they left the team’s camp before the ZED FC match without the approval of the technical staff.

But Vitoria ignored Zamalek's request and naturally summoned the duo, which sparked an attack by the white fans on the Portuguese coach.

The Egyptian national team squad witnessed the return of Imam Ashour once again after he was absent in the last national team camp due to injury.

Perhaps the only surprise on the list was the exclusion of Ahmed Hassan Kouka after his return from injury, and Vitoria preferred to include Mohamed Sharif, the Saudi Al-Khaleej striker, instead.

The Egyptian national team list was as follows:

Goalkeeper: Mohamed El-Shenawy, Mohamed Sobhi, and Ahmed El-Shenawy.

Defense: Mohamed Hani, Omar Kamal, Ali Gabr, Mohamed Abdel Moneim, Ahmed Sami, Rami Rabia, Mohamed Hamdi, and Ahmed Fattouh.

Midfield: Tariq Hamed, Marawan Attia, Mohamed Elneny, Emam Ashour, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Mahmoud Hamada, and Hamdi Fathi.

Offensive: Mohamed Salah, Mostafa Fathi, Mostafa Mohamed, Mohamed Sharif, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Omar Marmoush, and Hussein El Shahat.
