The British newspaper "The Times" Manchester United management intends to sack coach Erik ten Hag from his post against the backdrop of the team's worst start in 61 years in the Premier League.
The Reds lost five Premier League games and achieved just 15 points after 10 rounds, lost the first two Champions League group games to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray, as well as the fourth-round Carabao Cup farewell.
In less than five days, the Reds suffered two heavy defeats at Old Trafford, the first by Manchester City 3-0 in the league, and the second by Newcastle by the same score in the cup.
This backdrop was enough for the United management according to the "Times" to consider the dismissal of ten Hag, with two names to succeed him, the first is Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim, and the other is the Real Madrid legend, Zinedine Zidane, with a great preference for the French coach.
But The Athletic announced that the news was completely untrue, and that the United management did not want to sack the Dutch coach and gave him confidence and is convinced of his ability to improve performance and results in the coming matches.
Part of the English club's management is holding on to Ten Haag as well, with a salary of £9m a year, and if sacked the Reds will have to pay him more than £15m in compensation.
Ten Hag's start to work with United was promising last season after winning the Carabao Cup and finishing third in the league, along with reaching the FA Cup final.
But this year, despite the big deals of Rasmus Højlund for more than €70m, Sergio Reguilón, Sofiane Amrabat and Mason Mount, the team is putting in one of their worst performances in the last 10 years in various competitions.
