A rare incident in Bundesliga.. a famous referee was injured and replaced at halftime!

The match between Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart witnessed a rare incident, after the famous referee Felix Brych was injured and was replaced between the two halves of the match.

In the middle of the first half, Brych fell to the ground while trying to dodge a ball, but he continued the match normally, and then after another ball, he showed signs of pain and was forced to seek medical help.

Brych went out to the Frankfurt substitutes’ bench, where he was treated by the home team’s medical staff. He returned and completed the first half, which saw Stuttgart lead 2-1.

With the start of the second half, everyone was surprised that Brych would not complete the match, and that the fourth referee, Patrick Schwingris, who had not previously led any match in the Bundesliga, would be the one who would complete the match as a field referee.

Fortunately, the match did not witness any notable cases that required Schwingris or video technology intervention in the second half, and the result remained as it was and Stuttgart won.

But the interesting moment is that Brych did not even complete the match as the fourth referee, but rather left the field due to injury, and because of that, the number of minutes of stoppage time in the second half was not reviewed, which is a rare occurrence in football.

This match coincided with a historical record for Brych, as he became the referee of the most matches in the history of the Bundesliga, equal to Wolfgang Stark, with 344 matches, but the injury prevented him from completing the full match.
