Wydad crossed into the 2023 CAF ِAfrican League final after overcoming Esperance Tunis on penalties 5-4 in the semi-finals.
Esperance won the second leg with 1-0 , to draw the result of the home and away matches after Wydad won the first leg with the same result in Casablanca, and is resorting to penalties to decide the identity of the finalist.
The goal for Esperance brought him back to life was Brazilian Rodrygo, the same one who missed the Tunisian club's penalty and bid farewell to the competition from the semi-finals.
Wydad will wait for the winner of the match between Al Ahly and Sundowns, knowing that the first leg in South Africa won by the last 1-0, and the Egyptian club needs a comeback to repeat the 2023 CAF Champions League final.
Wydad secured $2 million to reach the final, and could increase to $4 million if they win the championship.
It remains to be noted that the first leg of the final will be played at the Mohammed V Sports Center, while the second leg will be held either in Pretoria or Cairo.
